Nakia the Professor
Professor Nakia C. Davis joined the North Carolina Central University (NCCU) School of Law Faculty in August 2006 as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Law. In 2013, she was promoted to a Senior Clinical Professor. As a Clinical Professor, she has had the privilege not only teach her students the law but the importance of when and how to apply it. She has published locally and nationally, with one of her articles being named one of the best articles published by the American Bar Association in 2009.
Her law school alma mater taught her the importance of being a community advocate. She believes in the importance of being an advocate for those that need legal services but cannot afford them. She also makes it a priority to instill in her students that “a client’s pocketbook does not determine the level of respect, compassion and understanding that they are given.”
Professor Davis has been blessed that God has given her favor over the years and it has allowed her “ministry to me her marketplace”. Students, that affectionately refer to her as “PD”, have not only been taught to be the best advocate but also the best person that they can be.
Professor Davis received her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1997 and J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2001.
